AUSTIN, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi baseball team concludes its longest road trip of the 2026 season with a big midweek test this week, playing its sixth consecutive game away from Chapman Field in Austin against No. 4 Texas on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
The Islanders (16-19) head into play holding a 2-3 record on their current away swing, splitting their midweeks with a loss to Rice last Tuesday and a win against Prairie View A&M on Wednesday before then dropping two of three over the weekend to Southeastern Louisiana in Hammond. This series did see some standout individual efforts, with
Jarrett Flaggert crushing his first three home runs of the season and
Chase Mayer working seven strong innings and earning the win in just his second start of the season in the opener on Friday.
A&M-Corpus Christi now faces a Longhorns (27-7) squad that has sat near the top of the national rankings for the majority of the season, coming in at No. 4 most recently after falling two spots following a series loss to Texas A&M over the weekend. The Islanders hold a record of just 6-26 all-time against Texas, but one of these wins came very recently, as they emerged victorious at UFCU Disch-Falk Field on March 26, 2024, by a final score of 4-1. On that day,
Christian Smith-Johnson had perhaps his signature moment with the program, smashing a three-run home run in the second to give the team a lead that it would not relinquish the rest of the way.
Tuesday's game will be broadcasted live on SEC Network+ with Brant Freeman and Mike Hardge on the call.
