CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi baseball team is back on campus to resume its regular season schedule this weekend, welcoming Stephen F. Austin to town for a three-game conference series at Chapman Field.
Due to the Easter holiday, the series between the Islanders (13-14, 3-8 SLC) and the Lumberjacks (16-14, 7-5 SLC) will start on Thursday, with the first two games set to begin at 6 p.m. and the finale on Saturday getting going at 2 p.m.
A&M-Corpus Christi enters the weekend with some momentum after its most recent set, when the team took two of three games from then-conference leading UTRGV on the road in Edinburg in the South Texas Showdown, presented by Rally Credit Union. This was the Islanders' first time taking home a series victory over the Vaqueros since the 2022 campaign, and it helped them avenge two losses at the hands of their rivals in last year's Southland Conference Baseball Championship. In addition, the team put together a nice performance in exhibition action on Tuesday, earning a well-fought 4-4 tie against the Corpus Christi Hooks at Whataburger Field in their last tune-up before starting their season this week.
The Islanders will now square off with a resurgent SFA squad, who currently sits just two wins off their total from conference play during the entire 2025 season. The Lumberjacks are led by infielder Julian Swift in the lineup, who paces the team in batting average, slugging percentage, OPS and total hits among other categories, and on the mound, Dylan Mulcahy heads the staff with a 2.39 ERA in 26.1 innings across six games and five starts. A&M-Corpus Christi will be looking for a repeat of last year's performance against SFA, where they earned a sweep of their three games in Nacogdoches, including a win in a marathon 16-inning game that went down as the second-longest in program history.
