Baseball Takes on Corpus Christi Hooks in Exhibition Action at Whataburger Field

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi baseball team takes part in one of its most anticipated dates on the calendar this week, heading downtown to Whataburger Field for an exhibition contest against the Corpus Christi Hooks on Tuesday at 6:35 p.m.

The Islanders (13-14) will serve as the last tune-up game for the Hooks, the Double-A affiliate of the Houston Astros, before they open their 2026 season at home on Thursday against the Frisco Roughriders, affiliate of the Texas Rangers. Tuesday's contest will be the fourth meeting between the Islanders and Hooks all-time and the first since 2024, when the team was taken down by its professional counterparts by a final score of 11-2.

A&M-Corpus Christi comes into action having picked up a huge series victory over the weekend, going down to Edinburg and winning two of three games on the road against UTRGV in the South Texas Showdown, presented by Rally Credit Union. This was the first time that the Islanders took a set against the Vaqueros since the 2022 campaign, doing so with a 9-6 triumph in the opener on Friday and a 5-2 win in Sunday's finale. Earning the save on the mound in both of these games was junior Chase Mayer, who for his performance was named the most recent Southland Conference Pitcher of the Week on Monday.
