Women's Tennis Seeks Continued History with Start of SLC Play

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The defending champions of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi women's tennis will be back in action looking to defend their historic success when they get underway with the 2026 Southland Conference slate at home this weekend.

The Islanders (10-1) will face SFA Saturday at 12 p.m. in a rematch of last year's championship matchup before taking on Northwestern State Monday at 10 a.m. at the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center.

The weekend will begin their quest towards a fourth consecutive regular season championship after the Islanders raised the trophy every year since 2023. Last year's title took their championship total to 14 combined with their seven conference tournament titles (and thus seven NCAA tournament appearances), the most in Southland Conference history.

Islanders Tennis program has seen 16 consecutive championship seasons. In total, the Islanders have amassed an astounding 37 championships in the program's history.

Head coach Steve Moore has been the guiding force for 35 of the championships, including 16 trips to the NCAA Tournament and all seven on the women's side. That is the most NCAA appearances at the same school by a head coach all-time in Southland Conference history, across all sports and all coaches.

The Islanders are 12-9 all-time over SFA and tied 13-13 with Northwestern State.
