Marty Secures SLC Player of the Week

FRISCO, Texas – For the second week in a row, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's tennis team took home the weekly conference nod with Etienne Marty winning this SLC Player of the Week.

It is the second consecutive week that the Islanders produced the Player of the Week, after Nicholas Niox Chateau won last week. This time, Marty secured it after an undefeated personal week of competition.

Marty posted a pair of singles wins over the weekend during the H-E-B Tournament of Champions, both in straight sets. Against New Mexico State, he won 6-2, 6-4 at No. 5 singles to aid in the Islanders' victory over the Aggies. He moved up to No. 4 singles against Louisiana and turned in a 6-4, 6-1 win after pairing with Omar Suarez at No. 2 doubles for a 7-5 grind.

Marty is 9-1 in singles play on the year and 7-1 in doubles.

"We are incredibly proud of Etienne," said head coach Steve Moore. "This young man has grown so much and come such a rock of a player and leader for this team! He has become so reliable, he has the best heart and cares about this team as much as anyone! We are incredibly blessed to have him as a role model for these young men."

The Islanders will next get into action on March 17 at UT-Arlington.
