THIBODAUX, La. – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's and women's tennis teams took care of business Saturday, both posting 6-1 victories over Nicholls to open their road conference swing.
The women (17-2, 3-1 SLC) got things going and only dropped one point on the day after starting strong with the doubles point, which came courtesy of

Yana Mykytyn at court one 6-1 and
Leticia Tarocco/
Josefa Fuenzalida at court two 6-4.
Ramanouskaya, Myktyn, and Fuenzalida then all notched their second wins on the day in singles play, all doing so in straight-set fashion. Ramanouskaya posted the 6-2, 6-0 score at court five, Funzalida dominated at court four 6-1, 6-0, and Myktyn pulled out a gritty 7-6 (7-5) first set before cruising in the second set 6-0 for the win at court three.
Rounding out the singles points for the Islanders was
Adriana Jimenez Casado at No. 6 singles with a pair of 6-1 sets while
Ana Veroux, the 2024 SLC Tournament MVP, settled into No. 1 singles and traded sets one and two before digging deep for a 10-1 third-set tiebreak.
The men (15-4, 1-0 SLC) got their conference journey started today, opening their slate with the similar victory over the Colonels' men. They began with the doubles point victory, theirs coming from courts two and three after

Matthieu Coignet won 6-2.
Favier was the only Islander on the men's side to post a 2-0 day, as he turned around and dug deep for a 6-1, 4-6, 10-5 victory at No. 1 singles.
The rest of A&M-Corpus Christi's wins came in straight sets, with
Tom Berry notching a 6-3, 6-2 decision at court three.
Nicholas Niox Chateau pulled out a 6-3, 6-0 score at court four,
Nicolas Trebuchet at No. 5 singles stayed disciplined for a 6-1, 6-0 win, and
Josef Zapletal closed out a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles.
The men remain undefeated against the Colonels, improving to 23-0 in the all-time series. The women move to 18-2 against Nicholls.
Both teams will remain on the road in Louisiana, next heading down to New Orleans to face the Privateers in a similar format Monday.
