Michael Wood was named the Islanders Director of Ticket Sales and Operations in June of 2019. Wood brings over 25 years of professional athletic ticket and front office operational experience to the Island.
Arriving in Corpus Christi in 2004, Wood most recently served as the President of the NAHL's Corpus Christi Ice Rays for the 2018-19 season, managing all day-to-day operations for the hockey organization. Prior to that, he worked with the Corpus Christi Hooks and was a founding staff member of the club as the Director of Ticket Operations and Sales. He was later promoted to Assistant General Manager and was named the 2007 Texas League Co-Executive of the Year after the club hosted the 66th annual Texas League All-Star Game. In 2008, Wood was promoted to General Manager, a role he held for 10 seasons. During his tenure, the Hooks were named the Texas League Organization of the Year in 2009 and 2015. In 2010, Wood and his staff were presented the Double-A Baseball America's Bob Freitas Award which honors overall excellence in minor league operations.
Wood spend his first 12 years in the industry with the Texas Rangers Baseball Club, serving as the Director of Ticket Operations from 1999-2004. He began his career with the Rangers as a ticket operations intern in 1992.
Wood graduated from Austin College in 1991 and resides in Corpus Christi with his wife Liza, and their children Kenedy and Keane.
