LAWRENCE, Kansas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's basketball team will make a visit to the historic Allen Fieldhouse Tuesday night when they match up against #25 Kansas in a 7 p.m. tip-off.
This will be the third of four consecutive road games for the Islanders, and the fourth of five games played within a 13-day span.
The Islanders are looking to end a two-game losing streak after their 85-77 loss on Nov. 8 at Tarleton State. Senior
Sheldon Williams led the Islanders with a career-high 21 points along with 11 rebounds, dominating the paint for his second-ever career double-double.
Williams leads the Southland Conference in rebounding following opening week, averaging 11.0 per game. The Islanders as a team are averaging 17.00 offensive boards per contest which seconds the Southland Conference and ranks 36th nationally.
It will be just the second ever meeting between the two programs as Kansas holds a 1-0 all-time series edge on A&M-Corpus Christi with the lone meeting being a Jayhawk 82-41 win on Nov. 23, 2010, in Allen Fieldhouse. A&M-Corpus Christi has four wins over the Big 12 in program history with two over TCU, one over Texas Tech and one against Baylor. The last was Dec. 22, 2005 over TCU 55-49.
The Islanders will be playing for their first ever win over a ranked opponent in program history. Their last win against any Power institution was 2009-10 against Oregon State 67-43.
