SAN ANTONIO – In its final non-conference match of the season, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's tennis program fell 4-0 to UTSA on Wednesday at the UTSA Tennis Center.
A&M-Corpus Christi concluded its non-conference slate with a 12-8 record.
The Islanders dropped the doubles point against a UTSA squad that's ranked No. 68 in the latest ITA rankings, but were leading on court three. Sophomores
Guillermo Castaneda and
Borja Delgado were up 3-2 when the point was clinched.
In singles, junior
Ulysse Bertrand was in a back-and-forth battle at No. 6. He won the first set 6-4 before dropping the second and was early in the third when play was halted.
At No. 3 singles, sophomore
Nathan Schwartz was edged in a first set tiebreaker and was in the second set then the match concluded.
A&M-Corpus Christi is now 14-8 all-time against UTSA.
The Islanders will return home Friday, April 1 when they host New Orleans at 11 a.m. at the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center in a Southland Conference match.
