Tennis Remains Unbeaten with Victories over PVAMU

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – Improving their records to 4-0 on the season, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's & women's tennis programs won two matches apiece Wednesday with the men winning 7-0 and 4-0 and the women 6-1 and 5-0.
 
The men's tennis team has yet to drop a court as they are 21-0 in singles and 12-0 in doubles. The women are 20-2 in singles and 11-1 in doubles.
 
"Our teams played really hard and focused on the road. They've been working so hard in practice and they came to play hard today," said head coach Steve Moore. We talk a lot about maxing out three things – team spirit at the matches, playing every point with intensity, and discipline with our preparation. I thought they tried really hard at those things today."
 
Earlier in the day, it was announced that the Islanders swept the first SLC Player of the Week awards on the season. Sophomore Ryuya Ata won on the men's side and sophomore Leopoldine on the women's.
 
Ata took care of business today with a 6-1, 6-2 singles win at the No. 1 spot and a pair of doubles victories with junior Matthieu Peres. Boisseau was also unbeaten with a pair of singles victories and two more doubles wins with sophomore Kateryna Rublevska.
 
The men improved to 36-0 all-time against the Panthers, while the women are now 33-0.
 
Up next, the women will face a very stiff test when they head to No. 13 Texas A&M for a 12 p.m. match.
