CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Texas A&M-Corpus Christi volleyball returns to the island for a pair of Southland home matches against Southeastern and Northwestern State. The home schedule kicks off Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. against Southeastern and resumes Saturday with a 1 p.m. matchup versus Northwestern State inside the Dugan Wellness Center.
Islanders Athletics announced it will be live streaming home events on ESPN+ in 2021-22.
The launch will take place Thursday, Sept. 30 when volleyball hosts Southeastern at 6:30 p.m. in the Dugan Wellness Center. A&M-Corpus Christi will also air volleyball matches on ESPN+ against Northwestern State, McNeese, HBU, UTRGV, Nicholls, New Orleans and UIW.
Islander Match Notes
- A&M-Corpus Christi started conference play 1-0 after a sweep over UIW.
- Carissa Barnes tops the league with 19 service aces and leads the nation in digs per set with an average of 6.74. She's earned three Southland Defensive Player of the Week distinctions this season.
- Kyndal Payne ranks third among Southland players in average kills per set with 2.95 while Rachel Young is fifth in hitting percentage with .296.
- This marks Steve Greene's sixth season at the helm of the Islanders, where he holds an 86-67 overall record and 56-21 Southland mark.
