SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Texas A&M-Corpus Christi volleyball opens the Southland portion of its schedule on the road, stopping at UIW for a 3 p.m. Saturday showdown inside McDermott Center.
Islanders Athletics announced it will be live streaming home events on ESPN+ in 2021-22.
The launch will take place Thursday, Sept. 30 when volleyball hosts Southeastern at 6:30 p.m. in the Dugan Wellness Center. A&M-Corpus Christi will also air volleyball matches on ESPN+ against Northwestern State, McNeese, HBU, UTRGV, Nicholls, New Orleans and UIW.
Islanders Match Notes
- A&M-Corpus Christi looks to kick off league play on a high note after notching a 1-2 record last weekend at the Islanders Classic.
- The Islanders earned a thrilling five-set victory versus Texas State in their home opener.
- Carissa Barnes took home her third-straight Southland Defensive Player of the Week honor this season and leads the nation with an average of 6.78 digs per set. She tallied 92 digs over the weekend, including a season-high 39-dig performance against Tarleton State.
- Barnes tops the conference with 18 service aces.
- Kyndal Payne ranks third among Southland players in average kills per set with 2.98 while Rachel Young is fourth in hitting percentage with .304.
- Barnes and Payne earned spots on the Islanders Classic All-Tournament team.
- This marks Steve Greene's sixth season at the helm of the Islanders, where he holds an 85-67 overall record.
- The Islanders went 9-3 in league play last season and claimed the Southland Conference tournament title in postseason.
