EDINBURG, Texas – Texas A&M-Corpus Christi volleyball concludes its road tour with a trip to Edinburg for the UTRGV tournament, consisting of matches on Saturday against Texas Southern (11 a.m.) and a Sunday South Texas Showdown, presented by Navy Army Community Credit Union, at UTRGV (1 p.m.).
Islander Match Notes
- A&M-Corpus Christi looks to rebound after dropping a 3-0 decision to Texas A&M in College Station on Monday.
- With a 23-dig performance against SFA, Carissa Barnes became the ninth Islander in program history to reach 1,000 career digs.
- The Islanders earned its first win of the season with a 3-1 victory over Northern Arizona to open the SFA tournament.
- Faith Panhans and Kyndal Payne garnered spots on the All-Tournament team, as Payne paced the Islanders' attack in both matches and Panhans totaled 77 assists on the weekend.
- Payne leads the team in kills (60) and averages 3.00 kills per set.
- The defending tournament champion Islanders received 13 of the 16 first-place votes for the preseason favorite distinction in the Southland poll.
- The Islanders' roster features a strong newcomer class consisting of seven freshmen looking to make an impact on the court.
- This marks Steve Greene's sixth season at the helm of the Islanders, where he holds an 82-65 overall record.
