Faith Panhans

Panhans Named AVCA All-America Honorable Mention

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Becoming just the second All-American in program history, junior Faith Panhans from Texas A&M-Corpus Christi was distinguished as an AVCA All-America Honorable Mention.
 
Panhans was the Southland Conference Player and Setter of the Year. It was her second straight Setter of the Year honoree. Panhans went on to be honored as an AVCA All-Region Honorable Mention selection in the Southwest Region along with teammate Carissa Barnes.
 
The Plano, Texas product was the SLC Student-Athlete of the Year and an All-Academic First-Team honoree. She carries a cumulative 4.0 GPA in her elementary education curriculum.
 
Panhans was a three-time SLC Offensive Player of the Week winner. She ranked first in the conference for setters and third overall in the league in hitting percentage.
 
Panhans registered eight double-doubles and a triple-double on the year. Her season-high was 56 assists at home against HBU to go along with 10 kills and nine digs.
 
Panhans helped the team win both the SLC regular season and conference tournament championships this season and make their second consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.
 
"Our team had tremendous success this season and Faith was right at the center of it running the offense and putting our hitters in the best position possible," said head coach Steve Greene. "This tremendous honor is a direct reflection of the diligent work that she has done to improve herself and help our team compete at the highest level."
 
The only other All-American in program history was Brianna Brink who was also tabbed as Honorable Mention in 2014.
