Islanders Soccer Conclude Friday's Intra-Squad Competition

October 10, 2020

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi's women's soccer program took the field last night to host their first intra-squad scrimmage of the 2020-21 slate. With fans in attendance, in compliance with masking and social distancing protocols, many newcomers got their first taste of game action under the lights at Jack Dugan Stadium. The intra-squad matchup featured the Blue vs White, led by assistant coaches Chris Jones and Hunter Nail respectively, with the Blue team coming out on top in a 1-0 victory. Last night's game was played in three 20 minute periods, and after a scoreless first period, the Blue team found their way on to the scoreboard thanks to a goal in the second period by Maggie Murray, a freshman forward from New Jersey. The blue team's defense was able to stave off any attacks from the Green team in the third period and secured the victory. Both teams went face to face in a highly competitive matchup, featuring plenty of aggressive tackles and hard fought plays.

The Islanders will return to Dugan Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 24th for a friendly exhibition match against Lubbock Christian University.
