CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi soccer team plays its final home match of the 2026 season over the weekend, hitting the pitch at the Dr. Jack Dugan Family Soccer and Track & Field Stadium one more time against Houston Christian on Sunday at noon.
The Islanders (4-8-4, 1-5-2 SLC) will be trying to keep their season record at their home stadium above the .500 mark for the year, as they currently sit with a solid mark of 4-3-3 in their 10 matches. A win on Sunday would give them five home wins in a season for the fourth time in the 14-year history of the program, with the other instances coming in 2019, 2021 and 2024, the last of which was when they set the record with six wins in front of the Corpus Christi faithful.
To wrap up its time on campus for the season, A&M-Corpus Christi takes on a Huskies (7-3-6, 3-0-4 SLC) squad currently sitting in a tie for third in the Southland after drawing with East Texas A&M in Houston on Thursday. HCU boasts a balanced attack on offense, with five different players sitting on three goals or more led by Paisley Barela with six, and on the other side, Emmy McKeon has started every match in net and was the winner of the SLC Goalkeeper of the Week Award back on August 25.
The last two meetings between the Islanders and the Huskies ended in scoreless draws, with the most recent coming in Houston last year and the one before that happening in Corpus Christi in 2024. The last decision to favor either side came on September 29, 2023, when the blue and green overcame a 24-6 shot deficit with a late goal in the 80
th minute to secure the road victory by a final score of 1-0.
