THIBODAUX, La. – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi soccer team plays in its final Southland Conference match of the season on Sunday, wrapping up its slate on the road with a matchup against Nicholls in Louisiana on Sunday at noon.
The Islanders (4-9-4, 1-6-2 SLC) close out their conference schedule looking to play spoiler, taking on a Colonels (5-5-6, 3-2-3 SLC) team that currently holds the seventh and final spot in the Southland Conference Soccer Championship. They also have a few notable individual accolades to chase, with senior forward
Katie Porter currently sitting on seven total goals in the year, which sits three off the lead in the conference and two away from tying the single-season program record of nine set by Abby Deakin in 2019 and
Morgan Westbury in 2022.
In the all-time series, A&M-Corpus Christi holds a narrow edge over Nicholls with a record of 8-6-1, which comes even with a loss at the Dr. Jack Dugan Family Soccer and Track & Field Stadium in 2025. Before this, the Islanders were on a dominant run against the Colonels, winning each of the prior six matches and going unbeaten in nine straight dating all the way back to September 30, 2018. This year's Nicholls squad boasts a balanced attack ranked second in the conference in goals led by Alyssa Wheeler with seven, and in net, Aislinn Wright has played all but 34 seconds on the year and made 67 saves in her 16 contests.
