Willis Wilson has announced the addition of Nolan Bertain to the Islanders' roster. Bertain is from Portland, Ore., and played last season at UAB. He also played one season at Casper Junior College.
"Nolan is an elite three-point shooter demanding the attention of the defense," said Wilson. He will have an immense impact on our ability to spread the floor and create exceptional offensive spacing. Not to mention, he brings an abundance of experience and know-how to our back court play."
Bertain was limited to just six games last season at UAB due to injury. While at Casper JC, he averaged 14.3 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game, recording 13 double-digit point performances. Bertain shot 47.8 percent from the field and hit 45.3 percent of his three point attempts. The team's leading scorer, he notched a career-high 31 points in a victory over Williston State.
A standout at West Linn High School in Portland, Ore., Bertain averaged 18.0 points per game as a senor and was an All-League performer three times. He led his team to league titles during his sophomore and junior seasons. He also earned an All-City honor during his freshman season.
