FRISCO, Texas – Ahead of the postseason, the Southland Conference released the 2025-26 All-Conference honors Friday and
Leo Torbor of the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's basketball team was named to the All-Defensive Team.
Torbor set the defensive tone throughout the conference slate, totaling 31 steals (1.4 per game), which ranks 11th in the league, and second in the conference in steal percentage according to KenPom. He also recorded 11 blocks, the most on the team.
Torbor contributed 5.3 points per game while shooting .440 from the field in addition to his defensive performance this year, aiding in the Islanders earning the No. 4 seed for the Southland Conference tournament.
The Islanders secured the first-round bye with the top-four finish, and will get their tournament campaign underway Monday against the winner of No. 5 New Orleans/No. 8 HCU. The last time the Islanders were the No. 4 seed, they went on to win the championship and advance to the NCAAs back in 2021-22 during head coach
Jim Shaw's first year on staff.
