Softball begins 2019 season in Louisiana

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi softball team will begin the 2019 campaign this weekend with five games in Lafayette, La. The Islanders will open the season against Fordham University on Friday, Feb. 8, at 9 a.m. Later on Friday, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi will take on host Louisiana at 4:30 p.m.

On Saturday, the Islanders will face the University of the Incarnate Word in a non-Southland contest at 2 p.m. followed by a second matchup with the host Ragin Cajuns at 4:30 p.m. on ESPN+. The weekend concludes with a 1 p.m. contest against Pac-10 member California on Sunday afternoon.

The 2019 home opener is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 20, in a 1 and 3 p.m. doubleheader against Prairie View A&M at Chapman Field.

"This tough schedule early is going to get us ready for conference," Head Coach Blake Miller said.
