Islanders Host America's longest-running College Team Tournament!
Islander Tennis is incredibly proud to announce we will again be hosting one of the grand events in the history of the Corpus Christi community-the 53rd annual "H-E-B Tournament of Champions." This tournament is the longest running college team tournament in America! It was a college team tournament when the NCAA championships was only a singles tournament.
This great event was started in 1967 by H-E-B founder, Howard Butt himself, and is widely considered one of the most prestigious college tournaments in America! The "H-E-B" has brought great excitement and exposure to the Corpus Christi community for decades and we cannot begin to express our gratitude to H-E-B for serving as Title Sponsor for 53 years! This type of support and loyalty is simply rare, special and priceless - as is the Islanders relationship with H-E-B.
The 8 teams playing in this year's "H-E-B" are Depaul, Louisiana-Lafayette, New Mexico State, Troy, UTRGV, UTSA, Tennessee Tech, and your hometown Islanders. Matches start Friday at 10 AM and 5 PM. The final matches are Saturday at 10am. Matches will be played at the Islanders Thomas J Henry Tennis Center ( 400 Nile Drive) and H-E-B Tennis Center (1520 Shely Street).
Please mark your calendar's to come see one of the most prestigious college team tournaments in America and top-notch high-level college tennis!! Draws will be made this Tuesday and will come straight off the ITA rankings, released Tuesday. We will post draws again on GoIslanders.com, Islanders Tennis Facebook, and Islanders tennis newsletter.
Thank you for your continued support of Islanders tennis!
