Volleyball clinches Southland berth with win at Lamar

Story Headlines
- The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi volleyball team defeated Lamar University, 3-1, at McDonald Gym in Beaumont, Texas, on Saturday afternoon.
- The Islanders have now won eight matches in a row and are now 16-9 this season and 9-3 in Southland play. Lamar falls to 8-14 overall and 3-9 in conference action.
- With the win, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi has now qualified for the 2019 Southland Conference Tournament will begin on Friday, Nov. 22, at the Farris Center in Conway, Ark.
- The Islanders are 15-13 all time against the Cardinals and have won 13 in a row against Lamar dating back to 2012.
- Madison Green nearly recorded her fifth triple-double of the season. She had 27 assists with 14 digs, nine kills and two service aces.

- The Islanders hit .316 for the match while Lamar was held to a .131 attack percentage.
- In the second set, A&M-Corpus Christi hit .519 with 15 kills and just one error. The Cardinals hit -.031 with eight attacking errors.
- Kylie Filipiak had a team-high 11 kills, hitting .556 with just one attacking error. She added two digs, two blocks and an assist.
- Carissa Barnes had 18 digs with an assist. She has now recorded 472 digs this year, ranking ninth in the Islander single season record book.
