Volleyball outlasts Colonels in five sets

Story Headlines
- The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi volleyball team defeated Nicholls State University, 3-2, at the Dugan Wellness Center on Thursday evening.
- The Islanders have now won five straight matches and are now 13-9 overall and 6-3 in Southland play. The Colonels fall to 10-10 and 4-5 in conference action.
- Rachel Young had a career-high 19 kills with just one attacking error, hitting .692 . She added five blocks and three digs defensively.
- Madison Green barely missed a triple-double, finishing with 29 assists, 10 digs and nine kills. She had a block and a service ace.
- Chloe Simon recorded her third consecutive double-double with 11 kills, 10 digs and two blocks. The junior had just one attacking error and hit .385 for the match.

Key Islander Statistics
- The Islanders hit .481 in the second set with 16 kills and just three attacking errors.
- Texas A&M-Corpus Christi hit .342 in the third set with 16 kills and held Nicholls to just a .067 attack percentage with seven kills and five errors.
- Carissa Barnes finished with 18 digs, giving her 428 this season, just 27 away from breaking into the single-season top-10 list. She had three assists and a service ace offensively.
- Kaylee Payne had 11 digs and led the team with three service aces.
- Hannah Froeschl recorded eight kills on 21 swings, seeing action in four sets.
- Sam Dumity had six kills, six digs and a service aces.
- Freshman Faith Panhans had 22 assists with six digs, a service ace and a kill.
