CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas. - The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi soccer team (0-1) will face Rice University (0-2) on Sunday, Aug. 26, at the Dr. Jack Dugan Soccer and Track & Field Stadium at 6 p.m. for the team's home opener.

- Head Coach Craig Shaw is in his second season at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi
- The Islanders won a program record six games last season
- This will be the third meeting between the two programs
- The teams met back in 2015 and again in 2017
- Rice beat the Islanders 2-0 in Corpus Christi back on Aug. 28, 2015
- The Owls beat the Islanders in Houston, 4-0, last season on Aug. 20
- The team's two lone seniors are Kaitlyn Joy and Abbie Flax
- First year of soccer on the Island was 2013
- This year's team features 15 newcomers
- This will be the first meeting between the two programs
- The Islanders were picked eighth in the Southland Conference Preseason Poll
- This year's roster features 13 newcomers (12 freshmen, one sophomore)
- There are 19 players from Texas, five from Colorado and two from Kansas. Other states include Nebraska, Arizona
