AUSTIN, Texas - Competing in just two events this Saturday, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi concluded its final day at the 91st Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays, tallying a pair of top-five performances.Â
Participating in her second event in as many days, junior thrower
Diamond Thomas came in third in section B of the women's discus, with a toss of 49.81m. The Houston native's performance fell just under two meters short of the program record of 51.63m she recorded at the UTSA Invitational earlier this year, a mark that currently sits 20th in the NCAA West Region and 33rd in the country.Â
The Blue and Green also competed in their first men's 4x800m event of the season, clocking in with a time of 7:49.07 this Saturday. The combo of
Will Maraggia,
Dominic Baptiste,
Jaran Cadena and
Rashawn Black finished fifth overall in the event, with Maraggia recording a team-best time of 1:54.63 during his leg.
The Islanders finish their time in Austin this week after pulling down two new outdoor program records, while five different Blue and Green athletes confirmed new PRs in their respective events.Â
Corpus Christi looks on toward their rivalry matchup with UTRGV this next Saturday, facing off against the Vaqueros in a South Texas Showdown, presented by NavyArmy Community Credit Union, dual meet in Edinburg, Texas.
