AZUSA, Calif. – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi track & field team heads out on its first and only out-of-state road trip of the 2026 regular season this week, making its way to California to compete in the Bryan Clay Invitational, hosted by Azusa Pacific University and the Pacific Coast Invitational, hosted by Long Beach State.
The Islanders will feature at both meets on Thursday, starting at 10:20 a.m. CT in Azusa with the men's 10,000m and then at 12:50 p.m. CT in Long Beach with the men's javelin. They then continue at the former on both Friday and Saturday as well, kicking off at 9 a.m. on the second day of the meet and then closing things out starting at 11 a.m. on the final day. In total, the team will bring 16 athletes to the Golden State, with six throwers –
Chase Hight,
Jordan Bowling,
Samson Black,
Breyunna Dowell,
Cyan Green and
Natalia Rankin-Chitar – pulling double duty in both cities.
A&M-Corpus Christi returns to the Bryan Clay Invitational after putting together a solid showing at last year's edition, seeing
Elizabeth Khatevi and
Philip Jensen e Castro set new school records in the 800m on both sides that still remain standing entering the weekend. The meets coming up will mark three weekends in a row in competition for the Islanders, coming off a split weekend at the Texas Relays and Bobcat Invitational on April 2-4 followed by a quick trip to the Cactus Cup in Kingsville last Friday and Saturday. These two saw the team earn two different Southland Conference Track Athlete of the Week Awards, with Khatevi winning for the women in the former and
Colin Benton for the men in the latter.
The live results for both meets will be available to follow along as they happen. The Bryan Clay Invitational can also be watched live with a subscription to FloTrack.
