HOUSTON, Texas – Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's tennis wraps up day one at the Rice Invitational, completing their first two matches of the weekend. In a tough start to the event, the Islanders fall to both Wichita State and VCU.
The Islanders kicked off the Invitational with a rematch against the Shockers. After falling 4-3 on Wednesday, the men hoped to gain revenge this morning over Wichita State. Ultimately, the Shockers came out of the gates running, tallying up a 4-0 victory over the Islanders.
This afternoon, the Islanders looked to bounce in their second match of the day, taking on VCU. The men got off on the right foot, picking up the singles point to start the match. But, VCU kept their composure in singles play, fighting through the remainder of the match to edge the Islanders 4-2.
