April 17, 2026

FRISCO, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's tennis team came away with five awards in the 2026 Southland Conference All-Conference honors, with Ethan Dasset highlighting it with being tabbed Newcomer of the Year, released by the league office Friday.

Dasset swept the awards himself, earning All-Conference First Team recognition at both No. 4 singles and No. 3 doubles alongside partner Josef Zapletal to go with the superlative. Etienne Marty was also distinguished as an All-Conference First Team selection at No. 3 singles, while the pairing of Matthieu Coignet/Mikel Garmendia earned Second Team honors at No. 1 doubles.

In Dasset's first season with the Islanders, he made an immediate impact in the lineup to help the Islanders to a 15-4 team record. In conference play, he was untouched in both doubles and singles play with an undefeated 4-0 mark from No. 4 singles, sweeping his way with straight set wins over UTRGV, Lamar, Nicholls, and UIW while being up a set on New Orleans 6-4 when the match was clinched, nearly earning the 5-0 record.
