CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's tennis battled in day one of the HEB Tournament of Champions. Ultimately, the Islanders split their first two matches, going 1-1 through the first two rounds of tournament play.
The Islanders kicked off the tournament with a match against Troy University. The men hit the ground running, securing a 4-0 victory over the Trojans. This evening, they advanced to the semi-finals to take on South Alabama. After falling in an 0-3 hole to start the match, the Islanders battled their way back, winning the last three singles points to force doubles play. Unfortunately, South Alabama weathered the storm, picking up the doubles point to secure a 4-3 victory.
