CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas- Texas A&M Softball venture off of the Island and head to Austin TX., where they will be facing off Texas on Wednesday. The first pitch on McCombs Field is slated for 6 p.m. between the Islanders and the Longhorns. The Blue and Green hold an overall 3-27 record against Texas, previously losing to the Longhorns 0-3 in the final travel game of the 2017 season.
PREVIOUS COMPETITION AGAINST TEXAS
The Islanders capped off the end of their regular season, by squaring off against UT in Austin, TX., on May 4th, 2017. Islanders staying defensively poised throughout the first three innings, as Texas continued to put runners on bases. Late in the fourth inning, the Longhorns broke through as Randy Leahy delivered a solo moonshot that put the hosting team up 1-0. Texas gained their last 2 runs from a throwing error and a sacrificed fly-shot to score in the third-base runner. UT pitcher Brooke Bolinger closed out the game the Longhorns, after tossing 3 scoreless innings.

SCOUTING THE LONGHORNS
>>The Texas softball team finish up the Texas Invitational with a 4-0 loss on Sunday against Michingan in Austin, Texas. The longhorns were only capable of drawing in a total of 4 hits against Michigan's pitcher Meghan Beaubien. Senior pitcher Paige von Sprecken pitched the all 7 innings, giving up 4 runs, five hits and striking out two batters.
>> Junior pitcher Erica Wright recently became the 10th pitcher to toss 300 innings in their career for the Longhorns.
>>Connie Clark is in pursuit of earning a total of 850 total victories, currently having 846 wins under her belt.
COMING UP NEXT
Islanders travel to Houston, TX., as they will participate in this years Houston Invitational. The Blue and Green will kick off this weekend tourney, facing Mississippi Valley State for their first two games. First competition is slated for 1 p.m. on Friday, while the second being at 10 a.m. on Saturday. The Islanders will close out Saturday's doubleheader, as they face against the host at 3 p.m. Sunday's doubleheader compete against Southern University at 12:30, where they will close out the weekend against Houston again at 3 p.m.
