Islanders Secure Saturday's Matchup Against Belmont

Box Score HAMMOND, La. - Texas A&M Corpus Christi softball returned to North Oak Park for Saturday's match-up against Belmont. After a false start on Friday against SELU, the Islanders were able to pull a 4-3 victory against the Bruins.

With the contest appearing destined for an additional 8th inning, the Blue and Green outplayed Belmont at the bottom of the 7th, as Taelor Thomas hit the RBI to score Avery Ratcliff for the last play of the game. The Islanders out hit the Bruins 12-10 and played a perfect defensive game, with zero errors.

OFFENSIVE BOOST:
-CF Kayla Sheridan records a pair of knocks along with two runs scored
-IF Keagan Helson had her first multi-hit game of the year, going two-for-four with a double against the Bruins
-1B Avery Ratcliff went two-for-four on the day as well, on the way to scoring a run
-2B Destiney Diaz tallied a knock in all but one of her three ABs
-SS Kaylon Dunn drove in two of the Islanders' four runs, with a single in the seventh

>> Kandace Johnson reaches second base on an error from the short stop before Taelor Thomas walks. Destiney Diaz singles to left field who throws out Johnson at home.

>> K Dunn with the RBI advancing Helson to third and scoring Sheridan.
>>The Islanders end the inning with 2 runs, 3 hits, and 1 left on base

>> Belmont scores to go ahead with 2 outs

>> Sheridan singled to third before stealing second. Ratcliff singled to center field advancing Sheridan to third.
>> Kaylon Dunn singled to right center for an RBI to score Sheridan to tie the game 3-3
>>Taelor Thomas singled to center field to score Ratcliff to win the game
