Volleyball closes regular season at UIW

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi volleyball team will close out the 2018 regular season at the University of the Incarnate Word on Saturday, Nov. 10, at the McDermott Center in San Antonio, Texas. There are currently six teams still alive in the standings for the final four spots in the Southland Conference tournament which begins on Nov. 16 in Natchitoches, La. UIW and the Islanders are currently tied at 7-8 along with McNeese State.

- In the first meeting of the season, the Cardinals jumped out to an early 1-0 lead with a 25-20 first set win. But the Islanders came back and took the next three by scores of 25-19, 25-19 and 25-22.
- Julia Carter set a career-high with 16 kills, hitting .297 with four assists and a service ace.
- Angel Felan had 33 assists in the win as the team's starting setter that match with eight digs, three kills, a block and a service ace.
- Rachel Young hit .333 with nine kills, three blocks and three digs.
- Kaylee Payne had 15 digs with a apir of service aces.
- UIW's Bethany Clapp had 16 kills with nine digs, three service aces and a pair of blocks, hitting .361 for the match.
- The Cardinals also got 10 kills with a pair of blocks from Autumn Lockley. She also had seven attacking errors in the match.
- Green is just 68 assists away from reaching the 1,000 career helper mark. Only seven players have reached that plateau in Islander history.
- The only players in the Islander top-10 in both digs and assists all time are Kristyn Nicholson and Logen Borque. Green is already No. 8 in assists and is 139 digs away from breaking into the career digs top-10.
- Green has been named to the Mizzou, South Carolina and Islander All-Invitational teams this season. Sam Dumity earned All-Islander Invitational accolades as well.
- Green is the only member of the team that has played for three seasons. She enters Tuesday's match with 391 career kills, 932 assists and 552 digs. Her 727 assists this season is a single season-high. She has also surpassed her single-season best mark in service aces at 33. She has scored 473.0 career points as a member of the Islanders in 85 matches.
- This year's roster features three juniors, four sophomores, eight freshman and no seniors.
