Volleyball host ACU in final home match

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - The Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi volleyball team will take on Abilene Christian on Saturday, Oct. 27, at 1 p.m. at the Dugan Wellness Center in the team's final home match of the year.

-The Islanders got off to a good start at Abilene Christian back on Oct. 16, winning the first seat, 25-18. But the Wildcats took a couple of tough fought 25-23 wins in sets two and three to take the lead and eventually win the match, 3-1, in Abilene.
- Libero Kaylee Payne had four service aces and had 21 digs defensively.
- Madison Green had a double-double with 43 assists and 10 digs. She hit .615 with eight kills with no attacking errors and three service aces.
- Chloe Simon also recorded a double-double with 13 kills and 10 digs.
- Julia Carter had a match-high 16 kills and added a pair of digs.
- ACU hit .243 for the match and recorded 13 blocks in the match.
- Jacey Smith had 14 kills and Katelyn Mueller had 18 digs and 13 kills. Kendall Bosse added 40 assists.
- Defensively, the Wildcats' Lauren Walker had eight blocks and Marybeth Sandercox had seven blocks.
- The Islanders have five more matches remaining this year. Those remaining opponents have a combined 23-29 Southland record this season.
- Green recorded the conference's first triple-double of the year, notching 33 assists, 12 digs and 10 kills in a five-set loss to South Florida on Aug. 31 at LSU. She got her second triple-double in a five-set match at home against Sam Houston Satate with 40 assists, 17 digs and 10 kills.  Only Nicholls' Heidi Carpenter has two triple-doubles this season in the Southland.
- Green has been named to the Mizzou, South Carolina and Islander All-Invitational teams this season. Sam Dumity earned All-Islander Invitational accolades as well.
- This year's roster features three juniors, four sophomores, eight freshman and no seniors.
- Green is the only member of the team that has played for three seasons. She enters Saturday's match with 370 career kills, 785 assists and 522 digs. Her 580 assists this season is a single season-high. She has also surpassed her single-season best mark in service aces at 26. She has scored 441.5 career points as a member of the Islanders in 81 matches.

Up next, the Islanders head to Southeastern Louisiana on Thursday, Nov. 1, for a 7 p.m. match followed by a 1 p.m. contest at Northwestern State on Nov. 3.
