CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas -- With a berth in the Southland Conference Tournament on the line, the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi soccer program (5-8-3, 2-6-2 Southland) hosts third-seeded Houston Baptist (9-7-1, 7-2-1 Southland) in both squads' season finale on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m., celebrating Senior Day just prior to kickoff against the Huskies. After forcing a 0-0 tie last season on the road, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi aims to earn its first-ever victory over HBU, just one of two programs remaining in the league the Islanders have yet to knock off (Stephen F. Austin).

A victory over Houston Baptist combined with an Incarnate Word loss and a loss/tie by Stephen F. Austin -- all games set for Friday evening -- will vault the Islanders into the Southland Conference Tournament as the eighth seed, scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 31 through Sunday, Nov. 4. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi faced a similarly tough situation entering the season finale last year at HBU, as the squad required a win/tie over the Huskies paired with a loss by Nicholls State to clinch a tournament berth (all of which occurred).
