CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Stephen F. Austin will both be looking to turn around their weekends this Sunday, as the two enter play with one another, coming off their first Southland loss of the year.
The Blue and Green just saw its longest unbeaten streak end at four matches, after a loss to SHSUĀ this past weekend, while watching their program's longest shutout streak in history end at 344 minutes. After dropping their opening two contests on the season, SFA went on a three-match win streak, but has lost three of their previous four heading into this Sunday, as both teams try to get back on track.
Corpus Christi is well on its way to its best season in program history looking to tie its largest single season win total in program history and earn its first win against the Jacks. The side is already off to its best start with four wins in eight matches, as both the Islanders and the Lumberjacks earned rankings in the top-three of the Southland Conference in the latest NCAA RPI poll.
SERIES HISTORY
- The Blue and Green is looking for its first win against the Lumberjacks, dropping theĀ four previous contests
- Brooke Erdmann scored her first goal of the season against SFA in 2016, she's the only player on the current roster to have hit the back of the net against the Jacks
- Goalkeeper Kendall Moody, made one of her 11 starts last season against Stephen F. Austin, making four saves in a losing effort

- Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's longest unbeaten streak in program history came to an end this Friday, after a 2-0 loss at Sam Houston State
- The Islanders' longest running shutout streak came to an end against the Bearkats at 344 minutes, nearly 100 minutes longer than the program's previous best
- Kaitlyn Joy registered a career-high five shots against the Bearkats on Friday, while Emily Keoughan's four shots ties the season-high she recorded at PVAMU
- With 85 shots on the year, the Islanders have had more attempts on net in their previous three matches (52) than their previous five combined (31)
- For the first time in the history of the Southland, two Texas A&M-Corpus Christi players earned weekly conference honors, with freshman Megan Dodd earning Defensive Player of the Week and Abbie Flax grabbing Goalkeeper of the Week
- Flax' designation comes after posting two straight clean sheets, becoming the third keeper in Islander history to receive the award
- Dodd's honor is the first defensive recognition in Islander history, as the freshman scored her first career goal against PVAMU this past Sunday
- The Blue and Green held the Panthers to season-lows in both shots (4) and shots on goals (1) last week
- Corpus Christi broke the previous season-best they had set on Friday at UIW with 21 shots and 12 shots on goal at PVAMU. The Islanders took 13 shots in the first half alone, setting a match-high for the season in the opening 45 minutes
- Flax' second clean sheet of the season puts her in a tie for second in career shutouts. No Islander keeper has ever posted three consecutive scoreless outings
- The Islanders are off to their best start in program history (4-3-1) and sit just a single win away from tying a season-best all time
- Freshman Addison Urbanus recorded the first goal of her career against UIW, while fellow first-year Emily Keoughan gathered her first assist of the year on the same goal
- Katie Lawrence moved into a team lead with her second goal of the year, scoring the Blue and Green's first PK of the season at UIW
- Lawrence's game winner against the Cardinals is the second of her career and puts her in a tie with Brooke Erdmann for the second-most in program history. She is just two GWG away from tying the top mark in Division I women's soccer
SCOUTING STEPHEN F. AUSTIN
- Hanna Barker earned Southland Conference Player of the Week honors this past Tuesday after collecting a goal and an assist against Northwestern State the previous Friday. Barker leads the Jacks with three goals and four assists this year
- A former Southland Freshman of the Year (2014) Barker's four helpers put her two short of making the top-nine in Stephen F. Austin history and her 10 points on the year rank first in the conference
- The Jacks have scored just a single goal more than the Islanders, despite playing an extra match. The team's 1.25 goals per match this season ranks ninth in the Southland
- Keepers Madeline Talbot and Allyson Smith have split time between the pipes this season, with the latter making a team-high five starts. Talbot leads her side with a .800 save percentage, while Smith holds a team-high 21 sames
- The Lumberjacks sit in a tie for fourth in the Southland after getting shutout against Houston Baptist. SFA's lone win in conference play came after the Jacks recorded a season-high 16 shots on goal in a 2-0 win over Northwestern State
- SFA has drawn just a single yellow card this season in comparison to the 11 Texas A&M-Corpus Christi has accrued over the season
- Stephen F. Austin has had 118 shot attempts this season, ranking sixth overall in the Southland and sitting 33 ahead of the Islanders
- After allowing six goals in their opening four contests, but has surrendered seven over the last four matches they've competed in
