CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – A day after breaking back into the win column, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi baseball heads to Austin to take on Texas in a nationally televised bout on the Longhorn Network. First pitch between the Islanders and Longhorns is set for 6:30 p.m. at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
Â
In its past two visits to Austin, the Islanders have walked away with the win against the Longhorns. Last year, the Blue and Green tossed a combined shutout to cruise to a 5-0 victory.
Â
The Islanders will send junior right-hander
Cole Carter to the mound. Carter is 0-2 on the season but holds one of the lowest ERAs at 3.09. After starting the year as the closer and earning the save on opening night, Carter will be making his second start of the season. His previous outing was a 4-2 loss to Houston at the Kleberg Bank College Classic.
Â
Texas will counter with left-handed sophomore Nick Kennedy. Kennedy is 1-0 and will be making his first start for the Longhorns this season. The Islanders saw Kennedy for an inning last year, getting two hits off the southpaw, but failed to score a run.
Â
The Longhorn Network is available on most major television providers. Check your local listings for channel and availability.
This is the first of two matchups between the Islanders and Longhorns this season as Texas makes the trip to Whataburger Field on March 28. Tickets to that game are available through the Corpus Christi Hooks box office.
