First road test set at No. 24 Baylor

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Texas A&M-Corpus Christi basketball hits the road for the first time this season, as the Islanders head to Waco to challenge the 24th-ranked Baylor Bears on Monday night.
 
The Islanders and Bears will meet for the third time with the series split 1-1. Monday's matchup marks the first time the Blue and Green will face Baylor in over a decade.

>> The Islanders held OLLU to just 34-percent shooting in the victory.
>> Kareem South led the Blue and Green with 16 points in the win while pulling down seven rebounds.
>> Elijah Schmidt pulled down a career-high 17 rebounds to power a 48-33 rebounding margin.

>> Baylor opened its season with a 107-66 victory over Central Arkansas on Friday.
>> The Bears set program records in field goal percentage and 3-point shooting percentage in the win.
>> All five Baylor starters scored 15 or more points against UCA.
>> Baylor doubled up UCA on the glass with a 42-21 rebounding edge.
 
SERIES HISTORY
 
The two sides have met just twice with the series split 1-1. The meetings came in 2003 and 2004 with Baylor taking the first clash 69-62.
 
In 2004, the Islanders rolled to a 73-58 victory at Baylor, marking the last time the two have met. Thomas Bailey led the Islanders that day with 18 points while Corey Stokes added 14 and Taureen Mitchell 10 in the win.
 
LOOK AHEAD
 
The Islanders return home to Corpus Christi Athletic Club Court at the American Bank Center on Wednesday night to host rival UTRGV in the South Texas Showdown presented by NavyArmy Community Credit Union.
