CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Texas A&M-Corpus Christi heads out on the road to face four-time defending Southland Conference Champion Stephen F. Austin.
 
The Islanders are aiming to even their Southland Conference record at 2-2 and become the first Southland school to win in Nacogdoches since February 15, 2012.
 
Stephen F. Austin sits 1-2 Southland play with a win over Houston Baptist while suffering losses at McNeese and Abilene Christian.
 
BACK ON TRACK
 
• The Islanders snapped a four-game skid with a 99-82 romp over Northwestern State Saturday night in the American Bank Center.
• Rashawn Thomas scored 29 and Ehab Amin added 28 to become the first Islanders duo to score 25-plus in the same game since at least 2009.
• Kareem South added a career-high 13 while Jake Kocher tossed in 14 to give the Blue and Green four in double-digits.
 
AMIN STILL GOING
 
• Ehab Amin's 28-point night against Northwestern State was the third consecutive 25-plus point performance for the guard.
• He hit a career-high 12 shots and scored 25 points at Nicholls.
• The guard now has four-straight games with 10 or more baskets, the longest such run in the nation.
• Amin is 1-of-9 players in the nation with 5 or more games with 10-plus field goals.
• He's only the second Islander to record multiple games with 10+ baskets in a season since 2010. Rashawn Thomas had seven for the Blue and Green last season.
 
SCOUTING SFA
 
• SFA has defeated the Islanders in three straight meetings, all coming last season.
• Ivan Canete leads the 'Jacks with 11.9 points per game. TJ Holyfield adds 11.6 as the only other Lumberjack in double figures.
• SFA uses a deep rotation with 10 players averaging more than 10 minutes per game.
• The 'Jacks are under new leadership as former Texas A&M assistant Kyle Keller has taken over the program.
 
 
UP NEXT
 
The Islanders return home Saturday to play host to Central Arkansas. The matchup is part of a men's and women's doubleheader with tip-off set for 7 p.m. at the American Bank Center.
