Tough Test Coming at Cal Poly

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – On the road for the second time this season, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi heads west to Cal Poly for a Saturday night showdown with the Mustangs.
 
The Islanders (5-0) are one of 15 remaining undefeated teams in 2016. The Blue and Green has faced Cal Poly three times before, with the Islanders winning all three previous matchups. Most recently, A&M-Corpus Christi topped the Mustangs 80-74 last December in the American Bank Center.

ELECTRIC EHAB
• Junior point guard Ehab Amin went off in the second half of the Islanders' win over UTRGV Tuesday night en route to his career-high 30 points.
• Amin hit 9 of his 11 shots in the second half, scoring 26 points. He hit a pair of threes and added six points at the line.
 
STEALING THE SHOW
• The Islanders rank 5th in the country in steals per game and lead the Southland Conference with 10.4 thefts per contest.
• Junior guard Ehab Amin paces the Islanders and leads the conference with 3.2 steals per game. He ranks fourth nationally.
•Texas A&M-Corpus Christi has scored 105 points off of turnovers, averaging 21 points per game off of turnovers.
 
THOMAS TERRORIZES
• Rashawn Thomas had a night unlike any other Tuesday against UTRGV. The forward finished with 10 points, six rebounds, five assists, five blocks and five steals.
• No one in college basketball has accomplished that stat line back through at least the 2010-11 season.
 
3 FOR 30
• In the past four games, the Islanders have had three players score 30 or more points.
• Joe Kilgore started the eruptions with a 31-point night at UTRGV.
• Cole Martinez dropped 30 against Jarvis Christian thanks to a 24-point second half.
• Ehab Amin scored 26 in the second half to lay 30 on UTRGV most recently.
 
SCOUTING CAL POLY
 
The Mustangs enter Saturday night at 4-4 overall following a win over UTSA Thursday night.  Redshirt senior Kyle Toth leads Cal Poly averaging 11.9 points per game. In the 59-47 win over UTSA, Toth scored a game high 18 points.
 
Joseph Victor comes off the bench and is the second leading scorer for the Mustangs averaging 11.4 points per game. Josh Martin also averages double digits with 10.8 points per game and leads the Mustangs with 8.4 rebounds per contest, but has not played in the past three games.
 
Jaylen Shead sits 17th in the country with 44 assists. He dished out seven assists in the victory over UTSA while the Mustangs locked down defensively, holding the Roadrunners to 27.5-percent shooting.
