CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas -- The 2016 Robinson Family Islanders Alumni Match welcomes back former greats Tuesday night at the Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center.
The Matt Robinson Family, which includes former Islander and 2012 Southland Conference Student-Athlete of the Year Nathan Robinson, is presenting sponsor for the event.
"This is such a special event as we have always run the team with an extra emphasis on team and family," said Director of Tennis
Steve Moore. "The deep, lifelong relationships between Islanders, both past and present, is one of the pillars this team is built around. The pride this group has in their accomplishments and Islanders tennis as well as the special camaraderie shared between these Islanders makes me so proud."
The match will follow a traditional dual match format as the alumni will form a men's and women's team to challenge the 2016-17 Islanders in doubles followed by singles Tuesday evening.
Nathan Robinson returns to lead a men's alumni squad consisting of former greats such as Andrew Maingot,
Ricardo Mayagoitia,
Javier Pujol and current assistants
Aurelien Tave and
Guillaume Rauseo. The women's alumni squad features all-time standouts such as Carlotta Santos, Alexandra Dyckman,
Celia Rodriguez,
Maider Martin, Doris Kuselj, Stefania Nicolae and
Megan Harless.
Admission to the Robinson Family Alumni Match and all Islanders Tennis events is free. The evening will also include free snacks and drinks for spectators.
