Islanders Continue Southland Play With Match Against Houston Christian

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - The Texas A&M Corpus Christi volleyball team returns to the court tomorrow morning as they host Houston Christian. It will be Education Day in the Dugan Wellness Center, with the match set to start at 11:30 a.m.

The Islanders enter with a 4-9 record overall but have started league play 2-0 and sit atop the Southland. Last week, TAMUCC captured two 3-1 wins by first taking down Nicholls on the road on Wednesday before returning home to defeat McNeese on Saturday.

Kenna Buchanan led the way for the Islanders in both matches as she finished with a team-high 15 kills against the Colonels and a career-high 19 kills against the Cowgirls. Virginia Van Der Werff had a season-high in assists for the Islanders with 42 in their win at Nicholls. Brooklyn Jaeger held down the back line with a match-high 19 digs, which helped move her into eighth place all-time in program history with 1,057 for her career.

The Huskies come into the match with a 2-12 record on the season and are 0-2 in conference play after dropping matches against Northwestern State and East Texas A&M. HCU and the Islanders have split their last four meetings, with the home team coming out on top in each matchup. TAMUCC leads the all-time series against Houston Christian 20-9.

Thursday's match can be seen live on ESPN+ with Steven King on the call, and the live stats will also be available to follow along as they happen.
