CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi beach volleyball team starts a new journey over the weekend, getting into action on Saturday for the first time in the new school year on its home sand for the Islanders Collegiate Pairs Event.
The Islanders will head to the familiar Water's Edge Park to host their home event, which was the site of their victory in the Southland Conference Beach Volleyball Championship in the spring. They will host both SLC rival Houston Christian – who they defeated in the finals of the conference tournament – and nearby Texas A&M-Kingsville, with the first matches getting underway at 9 a.m. CT.
The event will be one of five during the fall for A&M-Corpus Christi, which will serve as the tune-ups before the team starts its official championship season in the spring. The Islanders come into play this weekend with a new look, seeing only three returners from their primary lineup at the end of last season competing at the tournament in
Millie Olsson,
Bryce Ranney and
Mia Stevens.
The Islanders Collegiate Pair Event will also be run in conjunction with the Texas Food Championship, which will be taking place at Water's Edge Park at the same time.
