NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi soccer team starts the most important period of the 2026 season this week, getting its Southland Conference schedule kicked off with a road showdown against Stephen F. Austin on Thursday at 7 p.m.
The Islanders (3-3-2) head into Southland play after posting a .500 record in their nonconference matches, reaching that threshold for the fourth time in the past five seasons and bouncing back after failing to do so in 2025. This success largely came at home, as they posted a 3-1-2 record at the Dr. Jack Dugan Family Soccer & Track Stadium, earning at least a point against Tarleton State, Texas A&M International, Prairie View A&M, Sam Houston and Our Lady of the Lake and falling to only UTEP in their most recent match on Sunday.
A&M-Corpus Christi will now head out on the road for just the second time on the year, looking to get revenge on a Ladyjacks (3-6) team that it nearly upset as the No. 7 seed in the Southland Conference Soccer Championship last year, forcing a penalty shootout against the second seed but falling by a count of 4-2. SFA comes into play having won each of its last two matches, bouncing back from a 4-0 loss to Texas A&M with victories over Texas Southern and Jackson State. The 'Jacks rank 10
th out of 11 teams in the Southland in goals allowed so far this year with 20 but have found a rhythm on the other side as of late, netting seven in their two contests last week behind two each from Alyce Chappelle, Savanna Oberholtzer and Lucie Platt, who sit as their top three leading scorers entering play.
