CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi soccer team gets right back on the pitch after a thrilling season opener during the week, heading into action on its home turf against Texas A&M International on Sunday at 7 p.m.
The Islanders (0-0-1) will be looking to build off of the momentum that they earned in the back half of their first match against Tarleton State, roaring back after falling behind 2-0 after 20 minutes to level the score and earn a hard-fought 2-2 draw. This comeback made a bit of history in the program, as it marked the first time ever that the team earned a point in a match after falling into a two-goal deficit of any kind since starting play back in 2013. Helping to make up the ground were
Dakota Merino and
Katie Porter, who both put one in the back of the net to match their respective goal totals from their entire 2025 campaigns, when they played 19 and 18 matches respectively.
A&M-Corpus Christi now tries to notch its first win of the season against the Dustdevils (0-0-0) in a first-ever matchup, with the two teams having never squared off before Sunday. The match is TAMIU's first of two against Southland Conference opponents in 2026, as it also faces UTRGV in Edinburg on August 30.
