STEPHENVILLE, Texas – After spending its first two weekends out of state, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi softball team will compete inside state lines when it heads up to Tarleton State's Texan Classic Friday through Sunday.
The Islanders (3-7) opened the season at FIU and followed it with a weekend at Louisiana, garnering three wins so far on the year. This weekends' games can be followed along with live scoring, and the tournament schedule can be viewed below. The contests will be streamed live on WAC International, with A&M-Corpus Christi's Friday game against hosts Tarleton State will be on ESPN+.
Senior
Mimi Thornton has continued to stay hot at the plate, leading the team with a .360 average. Joining her above .300 batting is
Skylar Heger, who also knocked the walk-off hit for the first win of the season. Both lead the team in hits (nine and seven, respectively), and each account for one of the three home runs on the year.
Kendra Winfrey is responsible for two of the three wins in the circle this season, tossing 22.2 innings including one complete game.
The Islanders holds series advantages over Tarleton State (3-1) and Army (2-0) all-time. Pitt holds the win in the only other matchup with the Islanders back in 2009 while A&M-Corpus Christi trails Tulsa 5-0 all-time.
