CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Senior
Elsa Tornvall delivered a career-defining performance on her home course, capturing her first collegiate individual title to headline a strong showing for the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi golf team after hosting the Islanders Collegiate Invitational presented by Susser Bank at Corpus Christi Country Club.
It is the second year in a row that the Islanders produced the title winner in their home tournament after
Samantha Gibbs raised the trophy last year. Tornvall was the runner-up last season and shaved three strokes from the 2025 performance to win it herself this year.
Behind Tornvall's three-day total of 221 (+5), the Islanders finished third overall at 918 (+54) in the 10-team field, carding rounds of 292, 306 and 320. HCU claimed the team title at 902 (+38), followed by UTRGV at 906 (+42).
Tornvall set the tone early, firing a 70 (-2) in the opening round to surge to the top of the leaderboard. In the second round, she battled through tougher scoring conditions to post a 76 (+4), keeping herself in contention entering the final day.
With the individual title within reach, the senior delivered a composed 75 (+3) in the final round, closing out the tournament with clutch pars down the stretch to secure the first win of her collegiate career.
A&M-Corpus Christi opened the tournament with its strongest team round at a 292 (+4), positioning itself firmly in the title hunt after 18 holes.
Samantha Gibbs added an even-par 72 in the first round and followed with a 74 in round two, finishing tied for seventh overall at 227 (+11).
Tristan Gabbard contributed steady rounds of 77-79-79 to place 23rd at 235 (+19).
Lucia Ramirez helped spark the Islanders' opening-round surge with a 73 (+1) and went on to finish at 237 (+21), while
Hannah Creekmore rounded out the lineup with a 253 (+37).
