Volleyball Hosts Northwestern State on Senior Night

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi volleyball team returns home to the Dugan Wellness Center in Southland Conference play. The Islanders host Northwestern State on Thursday night as they honor three members of the team for senior night.

The Islanders (8-16, 6-6 SLC) host the Demons (13-14, 5-7 SLC) as the two sides look to position themselves in the conference race just two weeks away from the Southland Conference Tournament. Corpus Christ remains in a tie for fifth place while the Demons are in a tie for seventh, just one game back. The Islanders will honor seniors Kenna Buchanan, Madison Morrow, and Ally Saleh prior to the match.

When the two sides met earlier this season, the Islanders fell to Northwestern State 3-1 in Natchitoches. The Islanders rolled over the Demons in the opening set, 25-12, as they looked unstoppable offensively. However, the Demons flipped the script, taking the following three sets to claim the match, hitting over .315 as a team. 

Corpus Christi is coming off a weekend where they split home-and-away games against UTRGV. They defeated the Vaqueros 3-0 at home, before falling 3-1 on the road to the side tied in second place in the league. Erin Herrmann continues to lead the SLC in hitting percentage at .385 as she approaches the 100-kill mark for the season. Virginia Van Der Werff is fifth in the conference in assists per set at just over seven.
