A&M-Corpus Christi Hosts SFA Saturday Afternoon

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi volleyball team returns to play tomorrow afternoon as they host Stephen F. Austin in Southland Conference play. The Islanders look to break a two-game skid as they host a Ladyjacks team that enters in third place in the conference.

The Islanders are coming off a 3-1 home defeat against Lamar in their last match on Thursday night. They took the opening set before dropping the next three for the second straight match. The Islanders fall into a tie for fifth place in the conference with Northwestern State while SFA sits tied for second after falling in four sets to UTRGV last night.

Virginia Van Der Werff had a career-game for the Islanders as she finished with 13 kills, 39 assists, and nine digs. Kaitlyn Aleshire finished the match against the Cardinals with nine kills and had a season-high hitting percentage of .429. Erin Herrmann hit .550 as she finished with double figure kills for the second time this season with 11.

Stephen F. Austin is atop the conference in points, kills, and opponent service aces and is second in the SLC in blocks and hitting percentage. Herrmann leads the conference in hitting percentage at .388, while Van Der Werff is in fourth at .346 and is seventh in assists per set.
