PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi soccer team continues its current road trip with a matinee contest over the weekend, remaining in state to take on Prairie View A&M on Sunday at 12 p.m.
The Islanders (1-2-2) are looking to bounce back after a tough loss in their most recent contest on Thursday, when they were taken down by Sam Houston State by a final score of 3-2 in a wild showdown in Huntsville with two ties and three lead changes. An equalizing goal by senior
Morgan Westbury in the 53
rd minute looked to help them walk away with at least one point in the road matchup, but a late score by the Bearkats with just three minutes to go sent them off with the unfortunate defeat.
A&M-Corpus Christi now shifts its focus to the Panthers (0-4), who have already dropped a pair of games to Southland Conference opponents in UTRGV and UIW. The Islanders have historically had a lot of success in the all-time series, holding an overall record of 6-1 and winning the last three matches by a combined score of 19-2. This includes a 5-1 win in the most recent meeting back on September 8 of last season, a game that saw current sophomore
Maddy Howells net two goals for her single-game career high and Westbury add one of her own.
Sunday's match will be available to watch on the Prairie View A&M Athletics YouTube channel. The live stats will also be available to follow along as they happen.
