FRISCO, Texas – The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi men's and women's tennis teams had no shortage of academic recognition as the men had six student-athletes named to the 2025 Southland Conference All-Academic Teams while the women had four, announced by the league office Monday.
Both regular season champions, the men and women also each saw success off the court in the classroom as there were seven First-Team selections between the two teams.
Nathan Favier,
Matthieu Coignet,
Etienne Marty,
Omar Suarez, and
Josef Zapletal filled the First Team while
Nicolas Trebuchet earned a spot on the Second Team for the men. On the women's side,
Yana Mykytyn and
Kseniya Ramanouskaya were tabbed to the First Team while
Josefa Fuenzalida and
Juliette Jalai were named to the Second Team.
"We are so proud of these high-character Islanders and how hard they work both on the tennis court and in the classroom!" said head coach
Steve Moore. "They are so highly motivated, and they are able to manage being championship athletes and also elite students. That is an incredibly hard combination to manage that takes tremendous grit, discipline, and determination, and that's exactly what these kids are about! They are the best future employees anyone could ever hire, and they all have the brightest futures!"
The women post a 3.75 cumulative GPA while the men turn in a 3.42 overall GPA as a team. Islanders Tennis has averaged a 3.0+ GPA for 43 consecutive semesters.
